“Covenant, Cabernet Sauvigon, Napa Valley, 2005. Score 93: The third release of Jeff Morgan's flagship wine and the best to date. Dark garnet with orange and green reflections, full-bodied, with soft, caressing tannins and showing fine balance and structure that bode well for the future. On the nose and palate opens with ripe plums and a hint of licorice, those yielding nicely to blackcurrants, Oriental spices and, on the long finish a hint of cigar tobacco. Approachable now but best from 2009 and then cellaring comfortably until 2017, perhaps longer.”
