Covenant, Red C, Napa Valley, 2006: Call this the second wine of Covenant if you will but a wine that stands comfortably on its own and, as a second wine should do, offers an early preview of what is to come in the future. Garnet towards royal purple, medium- to full-bodied, a Cabernet Sauvignon blend showing silky tannins and gentle spicy wood influences. Opens to reveal currants and red and black berries on a background of mocha and an intriguing note of stony minerals that comes in on the long finish. Drink now-2013. Score 90.

2006 The Red C, Napa Valley
Medium ruby in the glass, this wine has a nose of dark, ripe cherry aromas with strong aromas of wet wood. In the mouth it has a very unusual, creamy texture, with lush bright cherry fruit, hints of black cherry, vanilla and notes of wet wood on the finish. Score: around 8.5.

“The 2006 Red C is the second wine of Covenant. This is soft, round, deliciously fruity Cabernet that is meant to be drunk in its first 7-8 years of life. The name, of course, is a play on words ... just think it over." 88 points
