Winemaking
The Covenant/RED C winemaking team is comprised of Jeff Morgan and associate winemaker Jonathan Hajdu. Because we have a very small production, we can handle most cellar activities on our own throughout much of the year. At harvest, we do need some help though, and the photos below include scenes that feature Jeff and Jonathan as well as a number of friends and colleagues whose assistance is invaluable.

Harvest Napa Valley 2010

2010 was one of the most extraordinary vintages we have ever experienced! It was the coolest growing season in some 50 years. Then, there was a vicious heat spike in late August. And if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, several rainstorms blew in toward the end of harvest. But the grapes that survived the rigors of the season have proved to be loaded with flavor. The unfinished 2010 wines are showing such great promise that we, at Covenant Winery, are dancing with joy! We want to thank our Covenant harvest crew for helping us make another amazing vintage.

Harvest Napa Valley 2009

Each harvest presents a new challenge. On October 12, the worst harvest storm to hit Napa Valley in 20 years dumped 4 inches of rain in 24 hours! The good news: We beat the rain and now have some fabulous wine in barrels. If 2009 is as good a year as 2008, we will be nothing short of deliriously happy.

Harvest Napa Valley 2008

This was a milestone harvest for Covenant, as we moved our production up to the Napa Valley and we started our new Chardonnay “Lavan” program. These photos show our wonderful friends and colleagues helping us at the winery.
